Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- 1 cup filtered water
- 8 tbsp gelatin powder
- 4 tsp Melrose Vitamin C+ Bioflavonoids powder*
- 1/2 tsp ground or fresh turmeric (for colour, optional)
- 1/3 cup honey or Melrose Organic Rice Syrup (or more to taste)
Method:
Place orange juice and water in a saucepan over low heat until warm but not simmering. Sprinkle gelatine over the top and whisk until smooth.
Add vitamin C powder, your choice of sweetener, and turmeric (if using). Stir thoroughly.
To set, pour mixture into a silicone baking tray (e.g. with mini muffin moulds) then place in freezer to firm up for about 30 minutes (or in the fridge for a few hours). Alternatively, pour mixture into a small, shallow baking tray lined with baking paper and set in the fridge or freezer until firm before cutting out individual jellies using a baking ring or novelty cookie cutters.
Tips:
For a firmer gummy consistency, you can add up to 10 tablespoons of gelatin powder, for a more jelly-like consistency add 6 tablespoons.
The colour of these jellies may be cloudy or a dull orange if no turmeric is added. Only a little is required to brighten up the look of these jellies and make them more visually appealing for kids.
